Publication in Adv. Funct. Mater. on High Temperature Thermal Transport Online

 10.11.2021

Hollow silica spheres are great thermal insulation materials, owing to their intricate nanostructure and low density. They also sustain high temperatures. In our latest work in Advanced Functional Materials Anna characterized the thermal transport up to temperatures of 925 °C. In cooperation with the group of Dr. Biehs, we demonstrate that a transition from heat conduction to thermal radiation happens with increasing temperature. The high thermal insulation properties are, consequently, compromised by an increasing amount of radiative heat transport. A strongly collaborative work! Congratulations to all contributors!
